Tax Attorney Douglas Charnas Joins Fox Rothschild in Washington, DC
Fox Rothschild welcomes Douglas Charnas to the Washington, DC office as senior counsel in the Taxation & Wealth Planning Department.
Charnas counsels clients on transactional and corporate issues, with a focus on finding tax-efficient solutions. He also handles tax controversies that arise from state and federal investigations.
Charnas advises companies and nonprofit organizations in a variety of industries, including health care, professional services, restaurants, motor fuels, cannabis and retail. He handles matters involving formation and operations, service and lease agreements, international and domestic operations, succession planning, and corporate structure, formation, governance and reorganization.
When tax controversies arise, Charnas draws on his experience working in the Office of Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). His understanding of IRS procedures and personnel helps him contact the right people and present arguments in the best way to get answers for his clients.
Charnas is an adjunct professor at the Georgetown University Law Center and is the Secretary and Treasurer of the J. Edgar Murdock Inn of Court, a professional association of attorneys devoted to supporting excellence, civility, professionalism and ethics in the practice of tax law.
He earned his LL.M. in Taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center, his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, and his A.B. from Ohio University.
Prior to joining Fox, Charnas was a partner at McGlinchey Stafford.
