Biography

Evelyn focuses her practice on real estate, primarily providing legal advice to condominium and cooperative boards and homeowners' associations on a full range of operational and governance issues. She counsels clients on:

  • Drafting and enforcement of leases, bylaws and house rules.
  • Admission and leasing policies.
  • Unauthorized occupants and quality of life matters.
  • Board members’ fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Ownership of apartments by trusts and other entities.
  • Disputes with neighboring buildings and among unit owners.
  • Board elections and governance.
  • Sponsor-related issues and construction defect matters.
  • Building alterations.
  • Financing and collections.
  • Compliance with municipal regulations and permitting rules.

In addition, Evelyn has significant experience in development, construction and regulatory matters relating to condominiums, co-ops and homeowners' associations, informed by her prior work representing developers in new construction, gut rehabilitation and occupied conversion projects. She has also represented owners and tenants in commercial lease negotiations and has drafted and vetted a wide range of real estate contracts and other legal agreements.

Before Fox Rothschild

Evelyn joined us from a boutique law firm. 

While earning her law degree, she clerked for a law firm and interned with the New York State Attorney General's Real Estate Finance Bureau.

Evelyn earned Brooklyn Law School's Max M. Lome Memorial Prize for Highest Achievement in the Area of Urban Law. She was published in the Brooklyn Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society.

Beyond Fox Rothschild

Evelyn is an adjunct professor, teaching Law of Condominiums, Cooperatives and Homeowners’ Associations, at Brooklyn Law School.
