Fox Rothschild congratulates Afi S. Johnson-Parris, who was featured on North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s Family Law Power List.

The list features 30 individuals selected for their notable accomplishments, representations and professional distinctions in the field.

Johnson-Parris told North Carolina Lawyers Weekly she nearly left the profession until a partner asked for her assistance on a high-conflict relocation and custody case. She saw firsthand “the impact a lawyer could have on a person’s life” once the case settled. Johnson-Parris then became a North Carolina Board Certified Family Law Specialist, representing clients in a full range of family law matters.

At Fox, she advises clients on a variety of complex legal issues related to absolute and collaborative divorce, equitable distribution, alimony, child custody and support, name changes and pre/post-nuptial agreements. She also has significant experience guiding clients through matters involving children, including adoptions, paternity/legitimation and international kidnapping matters.

When discussing her most memorable case, she shared that it involved “protecting three children younger than 9 who were trapped in a difficult custody battle involving serious allegations of abuse and domestic violence.” Following extensive litigation, she secured full custody of the children for their maternal grandparents.
