Two Fox Rothschild Attorneys Selected to North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s Icons & Phenoms List
Fox Rothschild congratulates Terrill Johnson Harris and La-Deidre D. Matthews, who were named to the 2025 Icons & Phenoms list by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly.
Harris, named to the “Icons” list, is an experienced health care lawyer and trusted advisor. The list spotlights “senior leaders of the legal community who have made their mark in the courtroom or the boardroom, in their law firms or legal departments, with community organizations, and with local, state and national bar associations over 30 years of practice.”
With more than three decades of experience, Harris noted in an interview that she knew she wanted to be a lawyer in the 6th grade. She now represents a broad range of health care providers on regulatory compliance, major transactions and dispute resolution. She also guides clients through strategic planning and risk management.
Ranked as a leading attorney for Health Care in North Carolina by Chambers USA, clients note that she is “well regarded for her broad regulatory expertise, which sees her defend clients in FCA proceedings, external investigations and administrative proceedings. She also advises on matters such as HIPAA and licensing concerns, as well as risk management.”
Matthews, a “Phenom,” is an associate in the Litigation Department. This list highlights “rising stars who have made a name for themselves in their first 10 years of practice.”
North Carolina Lawyers Weekly notes that she is quickly “carving out a reputation as one of the commonwealth’s most impactful attorneys.”
Matthews counsels private sector, government and municipal clients throughout the litigation process. The publication cites her “impressive experience in obtaining zoning and permitting approvals from governmental bodies for mixed-use, office, retail, industrial, residential and municipal projects.”
Matthews was accepted to the highly competitive Mecklenburg County Bar’s Leadership Institute, which annually admits about 20 individuals viewed by the Bar with high leadership potential.
She serves on the board of the Mecklenburg County Bar Foundation and the Council for the NCBA’s Zoning, Planning, and Land Use Section.
