Biography

Matthew is an experienced litigator who handles high-stakes, complex commercial disputes at both the trial and appellate level for some of the country’s top corporations. He focuses on the technology, transportation and financial services sectors, representing and advising leading technology platforms in litigation and compliance matters nationwide.

Matthew has tried cases in federal and state court and has briefed and/or argued appeals in the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 3rd, 6th and 11th Circuits, as well as in state appellate courts throughout the country. His work has resulted in the courts striking down laws under the Equal Protection and Due Process clauses of the U.S. Constitution, and upholding companies’ unique business models against tort and statutory-based claims.

Leveraging that background, Matthew focuses on helping companies efficiently and effectively defend against recurring and business-sensitive litigation across jurisdictions. He has served as national coordinating counsel for Fortune 50 corporations and gig economy companies. Through these representations, Matthew has developed strategic knowledge of how to protect clients’ independent contractor designations and enforce online terms and conditions, including through motions to compel arbitration.
