Representative Matters
- Obtained appellate victory in Bayati v. Town Square M. Properties (unpublished decision), in which the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District affirmed the lower court’s judgment of dismissal and order sustaining the demurrer in favor of client in a real estate matter involving claims of nuisance, waste and negligence. Meeghan was the associate on the appeal and drafted the appellate brief on which the court made its judgment.
- Secured dismissal of numerous business interruption claims filed in state and federal courts nationwide against Certain Lloyd’s Underwriters by entities alleging their economic losses resulting from mandatory COVID-19 lockdowns were covered under their policies.
- Obtained dismissal via summary judgment in favor of surety client against principal construction company and individual indemnitors on breach of contract claims.
- Obtained a favorable result via mediation for surety client against multiple construction laborers on numerous California Labor Code claims.
- Secured dismissal with prejudice of $8 million fraud action, with waiver of costs, after obtaining favorable result in mediation.
Meeghan also represents indigent clients with immediate legal needs as part of her pro bono work and has personally:
- Obtained Special Immigrant Juvenile Findings in an immigration matter that allowed the noncitizen minor client to stay in the United States and avoid deportation pending further court proceedings to determine permanent citizenship status.
- Obtained complete dismissal of action after successfully setting aside default judgment for indigent client based on lack of due process.
