Meeren focuses his practice on tax planning and assisting businesses and individuals in finding solutions to complex tax controversies.

He is experienced at helping clients navigate through federal examinations, IRS tax appeals, and litigation in U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. Meeren also advises clients on tax return positions and serves as a tax adviser to individuals, partnerships, S-corporations and C-corporations on tax planning matters.

Meeren handles matters involving conservation easements, the Employee Retention Tax Credit, captive insurance, Section 382 issues, cannabis law, partnership taxation, changes in accounting methods, bankruptcy, tax equity transactions, foreign information reporting and penalties, renewable energy credits, reasonable compensation, hobby loss, real estate transactions, research and development credits, exempt organization issues, ESOP planning, employment tax issues and promoter investigations.
