Fox Rothschild congratulates Matthew S. Adams, who was selected by the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey (ACDL-NJ) as a recipient of the Professional Lawyer of the Year Award.

The prestigious honor recognizes attorneys who are respected by colleagues for their character, competence and exemplary professional behavior. Adams was presented the award by the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law, which is the cooperative venture of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the state and federal judiciary, and New Jersey’s law schools.

Adams served as President of the ACDL-NJ from 2023-2024. The organization plays a vital role in the state’s criminal justice system with a goal to secure “the Constitutional rights guaranteed to all, and to defend these rights against government infringement or encroachment.”

Co-Chair of the firm’s White Collar Criminal Defense & Government Investigations Practice, Adams’ national practice focuses on criminal defense, regulatory compliance and complex commercial litigation. He is as an ally to clients ranging from individuals and small businesses to multinational corporations, who turn to him for guidance through indictment, grand jury investigations and “bet the company” commercial disputes.

Adams is well-versed in the U.S. Department of Justice’s crackdown on fraud and abuse involving government funding distributed under the Paycheck Protection Program and other CARES Act initiatives. He provides compliance advice to companies that have received emergency funding and represents companies whose loans or grants have come under scrutiny or been referred for prosecution.

A leader in his field, Adams frequently appears as amicus in trial and appellate courts grappling with issues of first impression and other high-impact litigation matters.

Adams also hosts the Presumption of Innocence podcast.

Dominique Carroll and Christopher Fallon also received Professional Lawyer of the Year awards.
