Biography

Pejman is a skilled intellectual property attorney who partners with clients to guide them through a variety of complex business decisions.

Drawing on two decades of experience with emerging technologies, first as a Department of Defense engineer and now as a lawyer, Pejman offers companies of all sizes the strategic assistance they need to achieve their goals.

Often retained as outside IP counsel by startups and other businesses, he uses his diverse knowledge of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets to provide creative solutions. He also serves as his client’s chief legal strategist, protecting their core assets and finding new ways to grow them. And when appropriate, he connects clients with additional legal and business professionals they can trust.

With his electrical engineering degree, Pejman also can leverage his technical knowledge to provide technology-specific strategies on intellectual property protection, transactions, and litigation, with a primary focus on patent related matters. From information technology to pharmaceuticals, he has the necessary experience and knowledge to help clients secure new patents and manage their existing IP portfolios.

IP Counseling

Pejman’s experience extends to patent, copyright, trademarks and trade secret counseling. He develops clearance strategies for new product lines, provides invalidity and non-infringement opinions, responds to patent notification letters; conducts IP due diligence and offers advice regarding copyright or trade secret risks in connection with technology development programs. Pejman also assists universities in developing intellectual property policies and in IP transactions.

Transactional

Pejman advises clients on a variety of transactional matters, counselling them on software and open-source licensing and performing due diligence. He often serves as lead attorney in intellectual property or technology transactions, as well as IP attorney in M&A transactions.

Pejman both defends and pursues patent infringement and invalidity cases. Among other things, he develops offensive patent positions for assertion; investigates defensive positions; drafts non-infringement, invalidity, and equitable defenses; assists with expert discovery, reports, and depositions; and leads joint defense group efforts with respect to invalidity. He also has handled post-grant patent proceedings, including inter partes review matters.

Before Fox Rothschild

Prior to joining the firm, Pejman was a partner at a large international law firm, where he gained extensive intellectual property experience before ultimately leading its patent prosecution practice.

Earlier, he worked as an electrical engineer for the Defense Department, helping develop systems for submarines. He also took some graduate-level courses at Catholic University.
