EEOC Extends Filing Deadline for EEO-1 to August 23, 2021
In response to the COVID-19 public health crisis, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has again rescheduled the 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 Component 1 Data collection to provide some regulatory relief to employers with more pressing concerns.
This data collection is mandatory for private sector employers with 100 or more employees, as well as federal contractors with 50 or more employees. It collects demographic information on the race/ethnicity and gender composition of the employer’s workforce.
As noted in our previous alert, the extended collection period began on April 26, 2021 and was originally set to close on July 19th, 2021. However, due to the various operational issues that employers have continued to experience during the pandemic, the EEOC decided to give employers an extended summer break by moving the submission and certification deadline to Monday, August 23, 2021.
Given this extended deadline employers should now have ample time to file their EEO-1 data.
Employers who have questions regarding their EEO-1 data gathering and reporting obligations should contact Kenneth A. Rosenberg at krosenberg@foxrothschild.com, or any attorney in the firm’s national Labor & Employment Practice.
