Fox Rothschild congratulates Kenneth J. Abdo, who received the Wallace-Lerner Excellence in Leadership Award from Mitchell Hamline School of Law’s Law Review. Abdo was a staff writer for the Law Review in 1981-1982, its founding adjunct professor of Entertainment Law from 1993-2004 and is currently a member of the Law School’s board of Trustees.

When the Law School was formed in 2015 through the merger of William Mitchell College of Law and Hamline University School of Law, the newly merged Law Review sought to honor an outstanding alumni from both schools with the creation of the Wallace-Lerner Excellence in Leadership Award. This award is a combination of the pre-existing Marcy Wallace Award, named after the first editor-in-chief of the William Mitchell Law Review who graduated in 1974, and a newly created award named after Gwen Lerner, the first editor-in-chief of the Hamline Law Review who graduated in 1978.

Since graduating in ‘82, Abdo has built an established career serving as legal counsel to artists, creators and businesses in the entertainment industries, particularly in the music industry. His clients include prominent iconic multiple Grammy award winners and recipients of gold and platinum record-recording artists and songwriters.

Abdo’s commitment to advocacy has vaulted him to national leadership positions with The Recording Academy (presenter of the Grammy® Awards), the American Bar Association, The International Association of Entertainment Lawyers, and other organizations.

Abdo is a frequently published author and presenter on music business and law topics. He has also been named as one of Billboard’s Top Music Lawyers for nine consecutive years.
