AI Deconstructed: Understanding the IP Risks and Protections for AI Assisted Technology
605 3rd Ave - 7th Floor
New York, NY 10158
Join this panel for a discussion on the patent, copyright and trade secret risks and protections associated with AI assisted technology. The generative AI technology being developed, quickly integrated, and planned by a wide array of businesses is a different type of technology paradigm from software. Our experts will explain the technology at a fundamental level and highlight the corresponding relationship to copyrights, patents, and trade secrets. The panel will discuss the kinds of patents that are being pursued and the complicated nature of copyright law in relation to the development and use of AI products, some of which are under ongoing litigation. This panel will cover how to avoid and manage risks in the Intellectual Property space, including:
- Copyright: Derivative works - training AI models and generating new content using existing content
- Patent: Typical areas to pursue patents, front and back end infringement risks, and uncertainty in enforcement or patenting due to patent eligibility
- Trade Secrets: Source code, training, saved model
