Neighborhood Legal Services (NLS) awarded Fox Rothschild with its Partner in Justice Award at its annual Champions of Justice Pro Bono Awards Luncheon. This recognition acknowledges law firms and legal departments that go beyond one-time acts of service. Fox was recognized for its ongoing representation of families in final Protection From Abuse (PFA) hearings, a legal process that helps domestic violence survivors secure their safety.

In 2024, Fox joined the Allegheny County Bar Foundation’s Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership to support the PFA Project as a direct response to a post-pandemic surge in PFA filings and corresponding decline in available pro bono resources. Under the leadership of Litigation Partner Kate Stoy, Fox attorneys provide consistent representation to victims of domestic violence at their final PFA hearing, where a judge makes a final determination on the merits of their claims. The Fox attorneys participating in this initiative include Patrick Abramowich, Rachael Dizard, Mark Harley, Brett Huston, Sheldon Miles, Lauren Sabol, Alec Stone and Michael Zukowski.

The Fox team completed advanced training to ensure it represents these clients effectively. “This dedication to excellence and consistent volunteering goes beyond one-time acts of service to form a lasting relationship that strengthens the community,” said NLS.

Reflecting on the firm’s approach to pro bono work, Stoy shared, “It’s our civic responsibility as lawyers to use our skills and resources to support others and improve our community.”

Community involvement is at the core of Fox’s mission. Through initiatives such as Generation Fox, which empowers local youth, and our commitment to delivering pro bono assistance, Fox strives to make a meaningful impact in the regions where our attorneys live and work.
