Managing employee leaves of absence is one of the most difficult tasks faced by supervisors and human resources professionals. The number of leaves available to employees continues to grow as the state legislature and Congress enact laws creating new types of leave. Rules regarding existing forms of leave are created and changed frequently and, perhaps most complex of all, the manner in which leave laws relate to one another becomes more complicated as new laws are created and old ones are changed. This seminar summarizes the most commonly encountered forms of leave, and the manner in which leave laws interact with one another.
