Carolyn Richmond Named a Distinguished Leader Honoree by New York Law Journal
Fox Rothschild congratulates Carolyn D. Richmond, who was named a Distinguished Leader as part of the New York Law Journal’s New York Legal Awards program.
The award highlights attorneys and judges whose “dedication, innovation, and leadership have profoundly impacted the legal profession across the state. From shaping precedent and securing landmark victories to championing pro bono work and exemplifying judicial excellence, these individuals represent the pinnacle of legal achievement in New York.”
Chair of Fox Rothschild’s 30-attorney Hospitality Practice, Richmond is a trusted source of practical advice to the New York restaurant industry, which has been facing rapid changes in workplace compliance, government regulation and immigration enforcement. Richmond’s prior experience as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for a major New York restaurant and hotel group provides an added gloss to her ability to lead clients through a significantly increased regulatory environment.
She has successfully defended numerous clients in the restaurant, hotel and nightclub industries in employment and wage class actions and other litigation and provides management compliance training, combining real-life examples with a deep understanding of her clients’ businesses. Richmond and her team also guide clients in taking proactive steps to minimize litigation and regulatory enforcement risk related to tipping, disability access and accommodation, wage and hour rules, hiring practices, sexual harassment, crisis management, immigration, minimum wage and fair workweek laws.
For two decades, Richmond has served on advisory boards at Cornell University’s Nolan School of Hotel Administration and ILR School, including the Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) and currently, the Cornell Center for Innovative Hospitality Labor and Employment Relations (CIHLER).
Richmond is a prolific writer and often is a guest speaker at legal conferences and industry events on various labor and employment-related topics particularly affecting the hospitality industry.
