Fox Rothschild Employment Team Secures Dismissal of Claims Against Cisco Supervisors
Fox Rothschild LLP employment attorneys Alexander Hernaez and Andrew Esler recently secured the dismissal of an employment litigation lawsuit filed on behalf of a John Doe by the California Civil Rights Department (CRD).
Doe, a current employee of Cisco Systems, Inc., sued Cisco and two former supervisors, Sundar Iyer and Ramana Kompella, alleging that his status as a "Dalit," or the lowest caste in the Indian social caste system, resulted in his upper-caste supervisors subjecting him to harassment.
The Fox Rothschild team, who represents Messrs. Iyer and Kompella (Cisco is represented by separate legal counsel), vigorously defended the lawsuit, ultimately filing a motion for sanctions arguing that that there was no legal or factual basis to support the CRD’s lawsuit against the individual defendants.
Fox Rothschild later negotiated the voluntary dismissal of Messrs. Iyer and Kompella without the need for further litigation.
