Examples:

  • FoxTrax National Coordinating Counsel – Clients facing litigation across multiple states rely on us to serve as National Coordinating Counsel. To aid in managing geographically diverse caseloads, we created a matter tracking system with individualized portals. This allows a client to monitor the progress and assignment of matters and manage related documentation. FoxTrax integrates three functions – a document library, client-facing matter tracking system and matter-tracking reporting.
  • Document Automation – We help attorneys and clients streamline the creation of routine and high-volume legal documents through automated, question-driven workflows built on firm-approved templates. This approach enables faster turnaround, greater consistency and reduced risk by producing polished, ready-to-use documents without manual drafting or formatting. Our automated solutions support a range of document types, including pleadings, estate planning documents and frequently used commercial agreements.
  • Document Automation: NDA Engine – Creating non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) can be a tedious and repetitive, but necessary task. However, there is no one-size-fits-all NDA template. Working with attorneys in our Intellectual Property and Emerging Companies and Venture Capital practices, we created a tool that guides the user through a series of questions to generate a tailored NDA. This easily customizable form improves quality and saves attorney time.
  • Client Intake Forms – Across our departments and practice groups, we create customized intake forms for existing clients. Submitted information flows into a secure online portal, where it can be leveraged across various solutions to generate forms and documents. 
  • Automated Matter Reporting – Custom extranet sites that streamline client reporting, eliminate manual preparation and enable real‑time matter tracking. Digitized intake forms capture key matter details, automatically generate reports and notify assigned attorneys. Built‑in reminders and alerts ensure timely updates and deadline compliance, while clients receive direct links to view and download reports. Dashboards provide at‑a‑glance visibility into active matters and reporting status, with prior data carrying forward to minimize attorney effort.
  • The Odom Corporation – This growing family-owned beverage distribution client in the Pacific Northwest needed a tool to manage its contracts. We created a site where more than 200 contracts are now logged and employees can easily update and track amendments. The secured site contains tabbed grids organized by contract type and allows for sorting and filtering.
  • Fox Launchpad® – For qualified early-stage companies, our Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Group established Fox Launchpad®, a virtual incubator and resource center for startups. This flat-fee package of services is tailored to meet the needs of entrepreneurs in compiling the financial and regulatory information required to launch a business. Our tool guides new clients through the steps of documentation and building a capitalization table. It’s user-friendly, incorporating hints at each step to ensure the process goes smoothly.

Patent and Trademark Clearance Solutions

Major retailers need a safe, reliable path to market for a steady stream of products. Patent suits pose a costly threat, so access to quick clearance is essential. We crafted tools that enable product developers and in-house counsel to work seamlessly with our patent agents and IP attorneys. These secured, private websites allow retailers to begin new patent clearance matters on their own. You track our progress as we review information and incorporate work product into the website. These websites provide considerable cost savings. They are easy-access resources for all info about patent applications and proposed products – memorializing the process from start to finish.

  • For an online retailer of pet supplies, we created an interactive site that completely replaced the company’s document-intensive and difficult-to-track system for patent prosecution and product clearance.

Interactive Guidance

Some research can be automated. Our Knowledge Management innovation team puts data at your fingertip with interactive resources on industry-specific topics and emerging areas of the law. Designed to help clients and our practice groups stay current, these proprietary, process-based solutions address specific business and legal research needs.    

  • Blue Sky Laws – Securities laws vary by state and quick access to filing requirements is essential. We worked with a team of litigation and corporate attorneys to alleviate the cumbersome chore of navigating ever-changing state Blue Sky laws. Our central research hub covers Regulation A and Regulation D offerings.   • PPP Fraud Tracker – The Paycheck Protection Program provided federally backed loans to businesses that needed financial relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program benefited many businesses but was also susceptible to fraud. As federal authorities undertook an extensive effort to identify and prosecute individuals and corporations that engaged in such fraud, we worked with the Co-Chairs of our White Collar Criminal Defense & Government Investigations Practice Group to create an interactive map that allows you to see, by state, where fraud cases have been filed. You can also view graphs that break down cases by district, month filed, federal agency involved and charges filed.

Data Analytics 

We crunch the numbers, you reap the benefits. Our Knowledge Management innovation team assists attorneys and clients by utilizing internal and external data to identify opportunities, mitigate risk and track trends across industries, areas of law, the markets and overall economy.

Examples:

  • PFAS Litigation Trends and Stats – Businesses and others with exposure to environmental risk need to monitor trends in PFAS litigation, named for a large class of chemical compounds (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) found in consumer products such as carpets, textiles, food containers and cleaning solutions. As this litigation grew to include a massive multi-district litigation in South Carolina, we combined a variety of resources to monitor the litigation and break down the trends and statistics.

  • Matter Classification and Expertise – Working with Harbor, a legal industry consultant, we created a matter classification structure that uses a predictive model and machine learning to classify all new matters. This provides insights into the nature of the matters we handle as well as a basis for identifying opportunities and risks.

  • Market Rate Analysis – Using numerous external and internal data sources, we created a tool for senior management to view, filter and track market rates across geographies, practices and timekeepers to understand and align our offerings and rates.
