“New York’s real estate market has regained momentum. This team is a go-to group in the sector, with its long-established reputation for helping clients resolve disputes and navigate changing laws and regulations,” said Dianna G. El Hioum, Fox’s Chief Growth Strategist. “More than 400 co-ops and condos throughout the NY metro area trust and rely on this team for solution-focused legal advice on a broad range of issues, and have done so for many years. We’re thrilled to welcome them to our growing New York office.”
This well-known group brings deep knowledge and decades of experience in cooperative and condominium law to the firm’s Real Estate practice. Clients range from small townhouses to multi-building developments, and include some of the most prestigious buildings in New York City. The group also advises subsidized buildings such as Mitchell-Lama and Housing Development Fund Corporation (HDFC) cooperatives.
They provide proactive and practical legal advice on day-to-day issues to help clients efficiently handle and resolve disputes over defective construction, building access rights and matters that arise among board members, shareholders and unit owners. The group also has a wealth of transactional knowledge, including vast experience in structuring a full range of contracts, agreements and financings.
Several team members have played a central role in the development of cooperative and condominium law, creating strong transactional strategies and industry-standard form contracts. Three have served as chair of the Cooperative and Condominium Committee of the New York City Bar and one as co-chair of the Condominiums and Cooperatives Committee of the New York State Bar Real Property Law Section.
“Fox has an established network in New York’s real estate market,” said Howard Schechter. “We’re excited to join and pair up our extensive local connections and decades of experience to create a powerhouse legal team for all the needs of the metro area when it comes to real estate, construction, condominium and co-op law.”
The team will soon begin hosting a series of seminars for board members and their managing agents that will review best practices and procedures and provide updates to the law.
